About

About Every Body Amsterdam

One practice, twenty-three therapists, no premises of any kind. The whole of it is arranged around a single observation: the thing that stops people booking full contact work is usually not the work.

Ask anyone who arranges these hours what the commonest reason for a cancelled plan is and you will not hear price, hour or technique. You will hear some version of a man deciding that his own body is the problem. He is a head taller than the bed. He has put on twenty kilos since the last time he did anything like this. There is a surgical line across his abdomen that he has not shown anyone. His hip locks. It has been eleven years. None of that has any bearing on whether the hour works, and all of it stops the message being sent.

So this practice is written for that man rather than around him. Every page here starts from the room and the body in it: how a bed that is too short gets replaced by towels on the floor, why a sturdy surface matters more than a pretty one, how a session is arranged so a joint that only bends one way never has to, what to put in a message about a scar, and why the first ten minutes are deliberately slow. There is no separate page filed under some polite euphemism for larger guests. The whole site is that page.

The practical shape is simple. Nothing happens on any premises belonging to the house, because there are none: every hour takes place in a room you already have, hotel or apartment, anywhere in central Amsterdam, with arrival in forty to sixty minutes once the hour is agreed. Schiphol and the airport hotels are taken separately, with the travel time settled before anything is fixed. Everything is arranged in writing to one address, which also happens to be the easiest way to say a difficult sentence.

Two limits are worth stating plainly, because a site written about body confidence can be misread in both directions. The first is that nothing here is a health claim. Massage is not treatment, a therapist is not treating an injury, and where a body part is sore the session avoids it rather than working on it. The second is that adapting an hour to a guest does not adapt the therapist. She decides what her own session includes, she says so at the start, and that holds for the whole visit. Being welcome exactly as you are is not the same thing as being owed anything, and the two sit together without any difficulty at all. The questions page and the terms carry the detail.

Give the building or the district, the hour you want her there and how long for. Anything about your own body that changes how the room should be set goes in the same message, and it is read as a practical note rather than as an apology.
