With a scar or an injury · Amsterdam

Body to body massage in Amsterdam with a scar, a tattoo or a recent injury

A mark on the skin and a sore place under it are two different conversations, and guests tend to merge them. One is about how you feel being seen. The other is about where hands and weight should not go. Both are settled in a couple of lines before anything is agreed, and neither of them is unusual enough to need a preamble.

the long answer

Say it once, in the thread, and then stop thinking about it

The whole of this subject reduces to one habit: write it down before she sets out. A surgical line across the abdomen, a knee that gave out three weeks ago, a shoulder that is fine until it is rotated, a patch of skin that reacts to oil, ink that went on last Tuesday. Each of those is a single sentence, each of them changes something concrete about the hour, and each of them is far easier typed than raised while someone is unpacking towels. Once written it is arrangement detail and nothing more. It is not filed against your name, not carried forward to a future booking unless you repeat it, and not a topic anyone returns to.

Nothing in an hour here is treatment

This has to be flat and unambiguous, because sites that sell massage have a long habit of implying otherwise. No session arranged here treats an injury, speeds a recovery, breaks down scar tissue, releases anything or does any other thing of that kind, and nobody on the roster will tell you it does. The relationship between an hour and a sore place is entirely negative: the hour avoids it. If a part of your body is under medical care, the person providing that care is the one to ask about touch, pressure and timing, and whatever they say becomes the boundary the booking is arranged inside. What is on offer is an hour that is pleasant to be in, which is a good enough thing to want on its own.

A scar you would rather was left alone

Two separate requests hide inside this one, and it helps to make both explicitly. The first is practical: do not work over it, do not put weight across it, avoid the area. The second is about being seen: I would rather the lights were low, or I would rather keep something on across that part for the first stretch. Either can be asked for, both can be asked for, and neither needs a reason attached. Older scars are mostly a matter of preference rather than of care. Recent ones are a matter of care, and the sensible default on anything that still looks new is to keep the whole region out of the session rather than to negotiate its edges.

Fresh surgery and the honest answer

There is a point at which the right answer is not yet. A wound that is still dressed, a site that is red, hot or weeping, stitches that are still in, a recent operation where you have been told to avoid pressure: none of those belong in a full contact hour, where oil, warmth and body weight are the whole method. That is not a judgement about you and it is not a refusal of your custom. It is the same answer anyone would give about a hot tub or a gym. Write what stage you are at, and if the answer is that the timing is wrong, you are told so before an hour is agreed rather than discovered at the door with a deposit already settled.

Tattoos, healing ink and oil

Settled work is skin and is treated as skin; nobody is interested in the subject matter and nobody needs the story. Fresh work is different for one practical reason, which is that a healing tattoo is an open area and oil, friction and warmth are all wrong for it. Most artists give a window in weeks for keeping such an area out of anything like this, and that window is the number worth writing in the thread. Where a piece is large and recent, the straightforward arrangement is to keep that whole limb or panel out of the session, which is easy to do and changes very little about the hour.

A sprain, a strain or a back that has gone

Recent soft tissue injuries have their own rhythm, and the first days after one are not a moment for warmth and weight. Beyond that, the useful information is not what the injury is called but what it does: it hurts when I twist, it hurts when I lie flat, it is fine unless pressed, it aches afterwards regardless. Written that way it turns directly into how the hour is run, because positions and pressure are things that can be chosen. A back that has recently locked is worth one more note, which is whether getting down to a floor surface and back up again is realistic, since that decides the surface before anything else does.

Skin that reacts, and what is actually used

Oil is the medium for the oiled formats and gel is the medium for the gel format, and both sit on skin for an hour. If you know you react to a fragrance, to coconut, to nut oils or to a particular product family, write that down, because it is easier to arrange around than to discover halfway through. Eczema, psoriasis and similar conditions are not obstacles in themselves and become one only where a patch is currently broken or flaring, in which case that patch is left out. A guest who is unsure is on safe ground asking for something unscented and simple, and for the session to keep away from any area currently giving trouble.

What she does with all of it

She arranges the hour around it and says nothing further about it. At the start of the visit she states what her own session includes and where her limits sit, in her own words, and that stands until she leaves, exactly as it would on any other booking. Your notes do not alter her side of the arrangement and hers do not alter yours; the two simply have to fit together, and they nearly always do. If something starts to hurt partway through, say so at the time. A position gets changed, an area gets dropped, and the hour carries on. Nothing about that is awkward and it happens often enough to be routine.

Rates, the deposit and calling it off

The figures are 180 euros for an hour, 270 for ninety minutes, 360 for two hours and 540 for three, with each additional hour at 180. Two therapists on one guest are 360 an hour together, a couple with one therapist 360, a couple with one each 720, and the eight hour block 1,250 for a single guest. Half of whatever applies confirms the booking before she leaves on nearly all of them, a first booking included; only a returning guest's same-day hour or two at a city address waits until arrival. If plans change more than twenty-four hours out, the deposit comes back whole. Inside that final day, while she is still at home, half of it is kept and half returns. After she has set out it is kept, unless another guest takes the hour and it is returned in full, or unless you can show the real loss was less than the sum retained. Where no deposit was taken, nothing is due before she leaves and only her journey share afterwards. Damages are never claimed. A single move of date is free with more than a day's notice and a new date inside a fortnight. Arrival is forty to sixty minutes across central Amsterdam, and a Schiphol hotel is arranged separately once the travel time is agreed.

Give the building or the district, the hour you want her there and how long for. Anything about your own body that changes how the room should be set goes in the same message, and it is read as a practical note rather than as an apology.
